As we move into the new year, we are in the early stages of rolling out a refreshed set of SFSC delivery resources, including the Facilitator Manual, Parent Manual, and updated delivery slides. Many of you will be aware that this work has been underway for some time, and that the refreshed materials were first shared at the SFSC Conference in September 2025. Since January, facilitators and partners have started to order and use the new manuals, marking the start of a phased and supported rollout.
The refreshed resources are intended as a careful update rather than a fundamental change to SFSC. The core programme remains the same: session structure, sequence, underpinning principles and key strategies remain unchanged. What has been updated is the clarity and accessibility of the materials. This includes more inclusive language, tighter facilitator guidance, alignment between manuals and slides, and adjustments where legislation or good practice required this. The aim has been to strengthen consistency and confidence in delivery, while staying true to the SFSC model.
At this early stage, some facilitators are already working with the refreshed manuals, while others continue to deliver using existing materials. This period of overlap is expected and supported. In practice, this means:
- Facilitators may use either the existing or refreshed manuals during the transition
- Sessions and core content should not be mixed across manuals within the same programme
- Fidelity to SFSC remains central, regardless of which version is being used
- Facilitators trained on earlier versions do not require retraining to adopt the refreshed manual
- Commissioners and partners are encouraged to plan for purchasing updated manuals as part of future delivery, recognising that this will take time
Alongside the refreshed manuals, we are pleased to share that the SFSC delivery slides will be available digitally as part of the new SFSC Practice Site, launching soon. The practice site will provide a central space for delivery resources and guidance. If facilitators require access to the updated SFSC delivery slides ahead of the practice site launch (in February 2026), these are available on request by contacting the Foundation at admin@racefound.org.uk.
We are mindful that periods of change can sometimes create uncertainty. Our priority is to ensure facilitators, commissioners and partners feel informed, supported and confident throughout this transition. Clear communication, consistency and predictability are key, and we are committed to holding this rollout in a way that reflects SFSC’s core values.
